“Purposes of the Intercessor and Intercession”

I.          YOUR CALLING - O.T.- YHWH Seeks Intercessor to:

            A.        Yechezk’el (Ezekiel) 22:30 -- Stay judgment - build a hedge

            B.        Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 59:16 -- To intercede for truth and right

            C.        Yechezk’el (Ezekiel) 9:4 & 6 -- You are Marked

            D.        Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 62:6,7 -- To be a watchman - Be a lawyer

            E.         Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 43:26 -- Put the L-rd in remembrance

II.         YOUR ACCOUNTABILITY

Sh’mu’el Alef (1 Samuel) 12:23 - Amp.  (Samuel was an intercessor for Israel)

            A.        Accountable to:  Intercede

                        1.         Must be willing to Pray

                        2.         Must be willing to be taught

                        3.         Must be willing to teach others

            B.        Accountable to bring deliverance by having clean hands

Iyov (Job) 22:30 (Amp) -- “he will even deliver the one [for whom you ntercede] who is not innocent:  yes, he will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands.”

            C.        Accountable to:  Promoting  the Good News

                        Tehillim (Psalm) 26:6,7

            D. Accountable to  use Authority to speak forth God’s Purposes in the

                        earth -- Iyov (Job) 22:27,28

                        Prophet speaks for YHWH to the people.

                        Intercessor speaks for YHWH in prayer.

III.       YOUR RESPONSIBILITY - N.T. - Ministry of Helps to Assist Five-Fold Ministry as well as Whole Body

A.        Responsible to:  Help bring assembly to maturity by prayer -- Colossians 4:12 (Amp)

 (Epaphras) “striving for you earnestly in his prayers that you may be:   

                        a.         ripe in character

                        b.         clear in conviction

                        c.         stand firm and mature in spiritual growth

                        d.         fully assured in everything willed by YHWH”

“labored hard in their behalf of Colossians, Laodicea, and Hierapolis.”

            B.        Responsible to Co-operate with Those in Authority

(Bring unity-Not be independent - Not to administrate or rule over)

            C.        Responsible to Pray for those who watch over your soul

            D.        Responsible to:  be genuine and devoted

            E.         Responsible to be committed, consistent, informed, thankful --

                        Colossians 4:2-4

            F.    Responsible to give yourself to prayer -- Acts 6:4; Romans 12:12
