I Corinthians 11:23-32
“Broken Bread:  Brokenness”

  1. THE TWO-FOLD WORK OF YHWH (upon man)

  1. Brokenness:   the breaking of the outer (soul) man for the release of the inner man (spirit) -- Tehillim (Psalm) 51:17; 34:18; Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 57:15; 66:2; Mark 14:3

  1. The issues of life:  Mishlei (Proverbs) 4:23

  2. Fall upon the Rock:  Mattityahu (Matthew) 21:44

  1. Division:   the separation of spirit and soul.  The distinction of the spirit life and self life.  Before division, what affects (influences) the outer man affects the inner man.

  1. It is the Spirit that quickens.

  2. Walk in the Spirit.

  1. TWO DISTINCT CONDITIONS OF THOSE WHO POSSESS THE LIFE OF THE L-RD

  1. Those in whom the Zoe is confined, restricted, imprisoned and unable to come forth.

  2. Those in whom the Zoe has forged a way through and the life flows forth.

  1. TREASURE IN EARTHEN VESSELS

  1. The excellency of the power:  II Corinthians 4:7

  2. Alabaster box must be broken:  Mark 14:3

The treasure is not the earthen vessel.  The treasure is in the earthen vessel.  Man still values the soulish abilities, talents and cleverness above the Spirit’s Life and power.

  1. True brokenness brings “THE YIELDED VESSEL: -- Romans 6:12, 23

  1. BEFORE AND AFTER BROKENNESS

  1. Before:

  1. One’s Ruach/spirit is inert and unable to function.  If he is clever, his mind governs his work.  If he is emotional, then feelings control his actions.  The soul man is energized by its own strengths and cleverness while the spirit man remains subdued and unstirred.

  2. The Ruach/spirit may come forth but is influenced by the soulish strengths and thoughts.  The result is mixed and confusing.  The spirit man is energized and stirred but the soul man is reluctant, resistant and non-cooperative.   The outer does not obey the dictates of the inner.

  1. After:

  1. One’s Ruach/spirit flows forth with ease and surety.  He is confident and bold.  He is strong and forceful in delivery.  This is the end of outward activity with inward inertness.

  2. PRESENCE is the #1 TRADEMARK.  His Spirit breaks through the Holy Place into the outer court and YHWH’s presence, power, life and anointing begins to change and affect people’s lives.   Only the RUACH/Spirit gives life.

Experiencing the presence of YHWH is contingent upon the breaking of the outer man.
