I.          GETHSEMANE:  WINE PRESS

  1. Gath:   a treading out -- It was the vat for holding the grapes while being pressed.

  2. Shemen: any form of liquid (trans. O.T. - anointing)

II.         SOUL UNDER PRESSURE

  1. Soul is Exceeding Sorrowful -- Mattityahu (Matthew) 26:38

  2. Soul Unto Death -- Mattityahu (Matthew) 26:38

  3. Soul Very Heavy -- Mattityahu (Matthew) 26:37

III.       THE SACRIFICE OF PSUCHE -- Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) 53:10-12

  1. Soul - An Offering for Sin -- vs. 10

  2. Travail of His Soul -- vs. 11

  3. Poured Out His Soul Unto Death -- vs. 12

  1. Mashiach laid down His life - Yochanan (John) 10:11,15,17

  2. Mashiach gave His life a ransom -- Mattityahu (Matthew) 20:28

  3. Mashiach laid down - we lay down - 1 Yochanan (1 John) 3:16

IV.       GREAT DROPS OF BLOOD -- Luke 22:44

  1. Mashiach Poured Out His Blood -- I Corinthians 11

  2. The Life is in the Blood -- Vayikra (Leviticus) 17:11

  3. When I See the Blood -- Sh’mot (Exodus) 12:7-13

  1. YHWH cannot see the blood if it is not poured out.

  2. When YHWH sees psuche (i.e., the SELF-LIFE poured out), He will PASSOVER.

  1. Without Shedding of Blood -- Hebrews 9:22

V.        THE GREATEST TEMPTATION -- Mattityahu (Matthew) 26:41

  1. First Prayer:  “If it be possible”  -- vs. 26

  2. Second Prayer:   “If it be not possible”

  3. Third Prayer:  “Let us be going” -- vs. 46

  1. “Yeshua, pity Thyself - protect Thyself - save Thyself - defend Thyself - preserve Thyself”  Mattityahu (Matthew) 16:21-26

  2. We must allow the spirit man to pour forth - the issues of Life.
