  1. JOHN’S BAPTISM WAS TYPICAL IN

    1. Identification

  1. Followers had to leave Jerusalem (the center of their religious world)  and go out to the muddy Jordan River.

  2. This was identification with a new “religious” order  (i.e.) not Judaism but Yeshua, the Mashiach/ Messiah.

  1. Transition

  1. John’s message was pivotal.

  2. Started the people turning toward the Mashiach

  1. (Change) Newness

  1. John demanded proof of real change.

  2. When the people submitted to John, they actually submitted to YHWH.

  1. JOHN’S MESSAGE

  1. Repentance -- Luke 3:3

  2. For remission:  aphesis - release, sending away, forgiveness.

  3. Produced change in the people-- Mattityahu (Matthew) 3:8-10

  1. YESHUA  “WENT OUT TO BE BAPTIZED”

  1.   Mattityahu (Matthew) 3:13-17

  1.  To fulfill all righteousness

                                    a.         Yeshua  had to come the same way all men did.
